"The media is too concentrated. Too few people own too much. There’s really five companies that control 90 percent of what we read, see, and hear. It’s not healthy."
---Ted Turner (American Media Mogul, Founder of CNN)
Agree or Disagree?
The media, in all sorts of form (social media, television, and etc.), we see daily is highly biased and this statement of mine leads to the conclusion that I agree with Ted Turner. The phrase, "media is too concentrated", itself is not an understatement. The different ideas or should I say voices that we should hear among the people is not present. Why is that? The mere things we hear around us are the only ones dubbed worthy or more like approved the owner of the companies themselves. Each and every news we come across can be easily said to be tampered with because we don't really get truth. This sentence I just wrote is beyond what can be apprehended by others. The reason for that we believe what we want to believe and honestly no one stop you or even in that case me (I believe what I want to believe). Going back, not getting the truth is perceived as an exaggeration but, I beg to disagree because we do get the truth, I know it's in contrast with my previous statement. Within that truth given to us by the media is only a portion to nothing on what actually occurred. Just bluntly saying that the truth portrayed can be doubtful because of those who owns that certain platform. At the end, you can only believe what you want to believe but, just realize to what extent is that something is true.
